A classy Japanese spot in Soho, with serene jazz vibes and fine Kyoto-style hot dishes plus sashimi. Recommended by The Vaccines.
Upon arrival, Omen seems like any other fancy Japanese spot. Minimalist décor – with the only splashes of colour coming from the plates and vases of cherry blossoms. Yet coming out of the open-air kitchen are some of the most delightful Kyoto-style country dishes this side of Housten. The food – little bowls of mackerel and spring vegetables, or perfectly flaky tempura – may look a little coarse at first. But the gorgeous rustic flavors far transcend any of the typical trendy rolls you get everywhere. The plates are small and expensive, but the quality and chilled out Miles Davis vibes make Omen a holistic dining experience.
